Zami Achasi is a scholar with the International Education Association of South Africa. She says there's an imbalance between global north and global south academics in terms of funding and control over research design. By 2050, estimates say that by 2050, the African continent will be home to 25% of the global population. And if you then have a program that includes Africans excludes African histories, experiences, aspirations, problems and perspectives, she says.
