#116: Are Cities Bad for Mental Health? (ft. Andrew J. Steir)
It's Not Just In Your Head
Is There a Difference in Neighborhoods in New York City?
You can really look at the differences in different neighborhoods in New York City, because partly it's that behavior is more constrained where in upper class neighborhoods like Park Avenue. If you go to poorer neighborhoods, people live on the street a whole lot more and there's a sense of activity and humaneness. I don't know if that's ever been studied outside of a book by Harris Stone, memories, or musings of an unsuccessful architect where he writes about that. The idea of dense mixed use neighborhoods is on the rise in urban design, for sure.
