Are There Competing Accounts of Bias That Don't Have Norms?
In the psychological or more empirical literature on bias, are there competing accounts of bias that don't have sort of norms at their center? I'm just curious, actually. The norm theoretic account struck me as just the natural account that that bias has to be some kind of disposition to or systematic deviation from a relevant norm. But I mean, not there are certainly objections get raised this way of thinking about bias. It is meant to capture a lot of the talk of our talk about bias, not just in ordinary life, but also the way it's being used in psychology and so on.
