The universe is going to play out in if you are embedded into it in largely unpredictable ways. The collapse of the wave function is not a particular event in the universe itself but something to do with your own epistemology. You have to be able to come to a deterministic model that allows you to predict the future of the universe from its past and also your own future from your past so you can compute otherwiseyou couldn't.
