The Prime Minister's Priority Is to Reduce Inflation
The Prime Minister has inherited from the former member for Uptbridge and South Rice-lip. He's long highlighted this policy, which is why after I took office we already have postponed its introduction. The monthly cost of a new mortgage rose by 61 per cent for the average semi-detached house last year. Most fixed rate mortgages coming to an end in this current 12-month period were set at interest rates below 2 per cent. So the crisis will worsen for homeowners and renters. Mr Speaker, our number one priority is to have inflation so we can reduce the upward pressure on interest rates.
