The Prime Minister has inherited from the former member for Uptbridge and South Rice-lip. He's long highlighted this policy, which is why after I took office we already have postponed its introduction. The monthly cost of a new mortgage rose by 61 per cent for the average semi-detached house last year. Most fixed rate mortgages coming to an end in this current 12-month period were set at interest rates below 2 per cent. So the crisis will worsen for homeowners and renters.
