The Importance of Narrative in Iran's Restoration
This was somewhat of a political target of opportunity for everyone involved. I got the sense that Beijing hosting this was almost sort of a last minute good idea. And I did do a bit of a public relations tour demonstrating how they are a world superpower who can bring peace and diplomacy to enemy states. The one camp says there's a big win for China because China made this happen. That is a much harder sell for the reasons really Jonathan I think really ably laid out, which is that this is an outcome that has been in process for many years with backing from a lot of different regional actors including from the United States.
