The tension isn't between preventative mental health versus treating mental illness so much as whatever we choose to target. One of the real dangers in FAD psychology is that it misallicates resources, especially money. The Biden administration just passed what could be like a historic expansion of sort of a child benefit. That's an incredibly thing, hard thing to pull off politically in a country like ours.
