Gliding Distance After Engine Failures

When lower time pilots are focused on maneuvers they do tend to lose sight of hey what's out the window in front of me that i'm heading to. We have to actually survive the flight in order for me to write up the temporary certificate so you know that's sort of the low hanging fruit in terms of safety is making sure that we avoid other airplanes. So gliding distance is proportional to your altitude but if you think about the area that's accessible to you upon engine failure and remember there might be some good terrain behind you.
