How Do You Know When You're Done?
In the art academy, I never critique a piece of work in that way. What I do is I express to the students that I expect a 100% effort. Everything is to be done to the best of their ability. When you're working, if you still see things in your drawing or your painting that are not what you intended them to be, it is your job to fix it. If they cannot figure out how to fix it, the drawing is finished because again, it's outside of their skill set. Those skills will develop in the next drawing and by that time they'll have figured out how to get over that hurdle. It's always taking the time to see and take care
