Gawaine is trapped in the middle of a weird game, and everyone seems to be in on the game, except him. The lady comes back to see gawaine to try and seduce him again. She also offers him a sash that she says will protect him from attack by green night. He keeps the sash but hides it so he doesn't tell bertela or bertilac what's going on. Gawaine then goes out to find the green chapel, where he finds the green knight waiting for him with an axe. But underneath his mask was bertelac who had been playing a trick on goaines. A conversation with my dad about a great medieval adventure story originally written in middle English and updated and translated into modern English by Simon Armitage. Dad talks about the origin of this story, its connection to the history of the English language, and the poetic devices used in the writing. In the second half I read a summarised version of the story and some verses from Armitage's modernised version.
