The Path to Majoring in History in College

Bob Dalek: I was torn about the path. A lot of times when people grow up in a household where there's a particular profession, they either sort of do it or run far away from it. In college, actually, I went to Berkeley in the North and Berkeley had, as it does now, you know, a great history department. He says he majored in history in part because "I felt like I knew it and I was good at it" But eventually gravitated back toward teaching, research and writing.
