What Do We Get Out of Reading Great Literature?
I don't see what's wrong with a writer exploring moral or ethical questions, though. If you put it that way, then that's exactly the kind of thing that should be doing. But that's very different from just surrendering all critical thinking and giving yourself over to some point of view of an author. I mean, there certainly are diagtactic works out there. And there's room for there to be those works as long as we don't encourage people just to embrace them uncritically.
