Nikolai Petro is a professor of political science at the University of Rhode Island. His new book, The Tragedy of Ukraine, explores what classical Greek tragedy can teach us about conflict resolution. He argues that if Ukrainians were united on their identity, there wouldn't be all these external forces who could pull them apart. But as it is, right now each of these constituencies appeals to external forces who are only too happy to pull the country apart.
