Jeannie Gilmore guides her mother back out onto the promenade deck of Princeton. They had tried to warm up for a few minutes inside the lounge, but now the smoke has become so thick that it's forcing them back outside. Neva still looks pale, and she's barely said a word since she made fun of Jeannie's hat. She must be starving by now after skipping dinner. It sounds like an explosion, followed by glass breaking. I think we may need to get rescued. Muriel gasps. But they're in the middle of the Gulf of Alaska. How could they possibly get rescued?
