Most people in that situation die because the liver, unlike other organs in the body, you don't have a way outside the body to support it. The good news is she was one of the lucky ones in that while her liver did fail, we managed to get a liver transplant for her in time. And I just remember taking care of her when she's in the ICU. She was probably late teens, early 20s, probably an unbelievable feeling of shame.
