There are certain continuing vedic practices, such as the basic devotional offerings and hymns that are found in the vedas. The main central ritual ofvadic practice is the jagna, which is a sacrificial offering burned in a fire. Along with these shraut sutras, there are mathematical commentaries particularly aimed at the correct design and configuration of sacrificial altars and temples. For instance, what we call the pythagorean theorem is actually found repeatedly in theshrauta sutras.
