The Instinctual Life of the Dreamer
I think the dreamer says he was surprisingly calm in the dream, which could compensate for the amount of distress that he might have been feeling. He did say in his waking life, he felt like he were being torn in half. I'm thinking about the multiplicity of snakes coming out of a body of a kind of instinctual energy that is diffuse because there are many. The contrast between that and a single snake in this Kundalini image crawling up the spine to talk to him. Something big at the kind of mythological, archetypal level is happening.
