The Conflict Within Darwinism

Gregory Bateson's father, W.B. Bates, pushes against seeing natural selection and the process of evolution is strictly mechanistic. And he wasn't a vitalist. He was going against the,. there was the vitalist view of evolution. But because Bateson's dad hasn't reached the time in history where the ideas of the information age are really becoming to fruition, he's not really able to find a way to do what he wants to talk about.
