The Effects of Cuboidal Epithelium on the Environment
Simple squamous epithelia is there so things can diffuse across. If it's one layer, it's generally telling you that it wants something to get in or get out. The cells of our kidneys are also simple cuboidal because we want things to go into it and modify it. X-acrine is a glandular tissue that makes something but secretes it into an external environment - most likely a duct.
