The Importance of Choice

Dante uses hell to show in a way what's happening in the person while they're alive. So he kind of uses hell so that we can see our lives in this world better. And anything impartly that also then allows us, he's kind of also drawing upon what really would have simply just been kind of commonplace. Some of them are just commonplace images of hell that would have been in the medieval imagination.
