The History of the Chinese Communist Party's Famine
The tales of famine started to leak out of China, but people didn't really understand the scale of it until many, many years later. Estimates of the death from this time related to the famine range from on the small end around 20 million to 50 to 60 million. The Chinese Communist Party would blame the entirety of the crisis on two things: First, whether it would become a big scapegoat for them. And second thing is they would blame agents of the Kuomintang and also the Soviet Union for sabotaging them.
