The book is mostly when things are happening in the present tense it is like a series of incidents involving baz's mom coming back from the dead and giving a message to simon. They then sort of teaming up to solve the mystery of her death someone was behind the vampires getting in. When they go to this vampire den in london over christmas break to find one of the vampires who's involved baz just kind of like loses it and just wants to like torch the entire place and then torch himself.
