Clutter and Hoarding - What's the Difference?

Clutter is things that are on the way elsewhere, we're going to deal with later. As a sociologist I'm typically drawn by work of Mary Douglas and her classical work on dirt. Clutter just appears as if from nowhere it demands our attention and demands that we deal with it. It's also potent and that it threats the kind of normative ordering of the home.
