Springtails, flea beetles and froghoppers can go up to 60, 70,000 watts per kilogram. Their secret is that their spring for storing jump energy is in their thorax. Some animals, like kangaroos, don't have separate springs in their biomechanical design. The new robot reached record jump heights by overcoming a constraint on biological designs.
