Trans-Substitutiation

Just because a theological term is defined at a certain point in Church history, it does not follow that the belief didn't exist before that period. So when it comes to this issue of trans-substantiation, understanding that Jesus' presence and the bread and wine that this is not merely symbolic has been understood since the beginning of Church history. But using the theological terms to define how can it be that this appears as bread and wine, yet Christ is truly present in it? These particular theological questions people debate, the finer points of it.
