CHAPTER

The Thermal Cycling of a Part

We wanted to understand the thermal cycling of the part was actually seen during the build process. So we designed a part where we inserted a bunch of small holes in it and into the actual CAD geometry. We printed up the part about halfway through. Then we stopped the build, opened up the chamber, removed all the powder from the chamber. And we added in thermal couples all into those sections of the part,. put all the powder back in place and resumed the build. That was cool. I'm just like imagining ideas. It's a really interesting area to explore.
