Getting Away From Global Intuitions
We really address organizations more than individuals. I have never been very optimistic about the possibility of helping individuals improve their thinking because I've been studying that problem for decades and not improving my thinking. We fit this as a movement currently towards checklists, towards a way really getting away from global intuitions. What people seek in many situations of judgment is to form an intuition, a global view of the situation. That typically comes with very high confidence and therefore with subjective comfort.
