Milton Friedman was a priest of free market fundamentalist ideology. His ideas influence Western governments, and he also had been a huge influence on fascist dictatorships like Pinotche in Chile. This neoliberal ideology was so common and so widespread that at the time you had neoliberal philosophers and political scientists like Francis Fukuyama who declared it was the end of history.
