The Role of Ultrasonography in the Diagnosis of Lactic Acid Shock
A 58-year-old woman was found to be in cardiogenic shock with a large pericardial effusion. She had an EKG that showed sinus tachycardia, otherwise normal. Her troponin was slightly elevated at around 0.6. A bedside ultrasound showed a plump minimally collapsing IVC and a very large pericardsion.
