The Four Percent Rule
The four percent rule has been popularized in the fire movement as play book to retiring with a portfolio of stock and bonds that you can live off. With one percent, you could just put it under your mattress, take out one percent per year and spend it for a hundred years. You know, we're all just trying to like, learn lessons from the past to give us the best chance going forward. It's not done in a vacuum. I think people early on, have this idea that when i turn forty five, i'm going to retire. My income is going to go to zero for the rest of my life," he says.
