A lot of terms like climate change have cultural baggage that people can get really stuck on, and then your message just gets lost in it. And i think to figure out why they wanted to retreat, you kind of have to dig into the communitis past. A huge amount of the new york metropolitan area was onc weatland. About 90 % actually, has been back filled and built on. Over half of the people who died in the storm were standing atop land that was once a tidal marsh. The drive for the byou was coming from the community, from people living there.
