The study measured controversial speech as it was directed towards a minority group, versus controversial speech directed against police officers. People who might be very anti african american might be particularly pro police. The more a person had negative attitudes towards africaans, the less they defended anti police speech. Although in the other condition, the more they defended the free speech of racest commenters.
