The Invasiveness of Child-Free Women

How many times does someone ask you why you don't have kids? You know, so it depends on the room I'm in. We find with other scholars, one of the things a couple of my interviewees pointed out is that child-free women or women who don't have children for whatever reason might be is not completely unusual in academia per se. In those kinds of rooms, I feel like there is more of a scholarly interest in it. When I'm out and about though in the real world, we're watching with, you know, non-academic folks.
