Christmas in the German Trenches

Sophie: The soldiers dug holes in the ground called trenches and hid in them so that bullets couldn't kill them. When Christmas came, people stayed in their trenches because often lots of wars and fighting happened at Christmas. But then some British soldiers saw a tree being pushed up to the top of the German trenches. It was Christmas Eve and the spirit of Christmas had come to the trenches. And they spoke to each other even though they were on different sides. They told stories to each other and shared food. Even started to play a football game in the middle of No Man's Land.
