Pathos as a Mean for Suffering

A lot of the wallowing we normally associate with suffering is a way of avoiding the kind of embodied and felt cognitive dissonance that underlies it. So there is still this orientation towards the good, rather than the pathic for its own sake. The other thing I just want to add in as a caveat is I'm also definitely not advocating some kind of Nietzschean last man, right? Where we all just become like the the people in Wally who have, you know, just intravenously set up our opiates coming in and we're just kind of pleasure is the only thing.
