Michael Wolraich: I was thinking back to something that happened early in my career. When we were dating, she was an executive at a firm and i was in career transition. She told me coming out of that lunch think, that's not the story you want to tell. It's being the sound engineer that has to decide, ok, what's the right thing to emphasize for this particular audience? And i walked away from that lunch really for the first time in my life and i my career.

Key Points We've evolved through history to seek guidance from those who appear miraculous. Surprise and worthiness are two indicators of what people perceive as miraculous vs. simply chance. The elements of your narrative are faders on a mixing board. Raise and lower different elements of the story to get the right mix. Make a list of strengths and weaknesses and don’t mention your weaknesses for a week. Reframe how some of your weakness might be strengths. Develop your story using the elements of theatre.
