Leibnitz and Spinoza's Theology of Substance
The central theme, the pivot point from which all three continental rationalists began their philosophy, was the question of substance. Leibnitz is like spinoza in that he says that there's only one true substance, but that one substance was something called a monad and everything is made up of it. The biggest misconception when i've tried to describe the monad ology to people in modern times is for them to think of a monad as being very similar to an atom. But this is far from the case.
