The Economic Justification for Noncompetes

The FTC is considering a blanket ban on noncompetes. Noncompetes are things that you might sign in a contract when you start a new job. A lot of times they're not really enforceable or there's something that like, your company was only your previous companies only go and do it if you're doing something 'egregiously' wrong. But I will throw out the caveat of people who are legitimately doing cutting edge research of like scientific nature.
