The FLDS was able to ensure that women and children stayed compliant and submissive always. The most tragic part about this is that Jeff's was teaching these people that the outside world was even worse, which kept most of them terrified every single day of their lives. If those people did not keep sweet, then the punishment was often swift and severe,. usually resulting in extreme isolation in which the women were locked away from their children for months at time.
