Is the Ministry of Education Trying Too Hard to Prioritise Education?
I think the Ministry of Education probably erred on the side of caution a bit too much by sending out a longer timeframe. With extreme weather events like that, we've seen the devastation that they can cause. What we don't want is a whole lot of kids stranded at school unable to get home because of the significant disruption that could have been caused. So will this happen every time there's a significant... Oh, not necessarily. But I think people will now look back on that and say, well, given the extraordinary nature of what we were faced with, it was probably justified for them to be a bit cautious.
