The idea that we regard ourselves as stable identities over time. What if consciousness, even cognition, advanced problem solving, did not have their origins in single individual minds but they had their origins in interactions at the society level? This would mean, especially as a critical development, and by language, i mean speech. It's an idea that i've been thinking about in many ways.
