The Origins of Coffee
The word coffee has roots in several different languages. It earned the name kawa, which was originally a romantic term for wine. The modern version of roasted coffee originated in Arabia. By perching and boiling the coffee beans, it rendered them infertile. Arabs were able to then corner the market on coffee crops.
