There was no requirement that exit row passengers receive a briefing on how and when to open the hatch. This incident is why you have to like verbally say yes, I am capable and understand. And lots of times the hatches do have their weight written on them. That's pretty heavy. So once again, we're talking about the right overwing exit,. Once that hatch was released, it fell inward onto the passenger seated next to it, trapping her.
