The Origins of Daphne

Daphne was a nymph of Mount Parnassus, who reigned as oracle long before Apollo ever stole it away. She's the mother of Asclepius, the god of medicine, and Apollo's son born of Coronus' tragic death. Her transformation is also primarily from Ovid, though her becoming a tree does exist earlier. It's only in the Roman period where we get these visual depictions that actually show Daphne physically transforming into a tree?
