When i visited in 19 70, guiana was being converted into something called a co operative socialist republic. The only concrete effect seems to have been in the field of letter writing. A dope dealer from bermuda came to guaiana to drum up support for a so called black people's congress. Then there was the man who claimed to be an angolan freedom fighter. He was honored with guionese citizenship. Like the bermudan, he was also involved in the dobe trade. These were not isolated pieces of bad luck. They belonged to a common pattern of vaguely idiological misadventures. Those safely beyond the borders of our madness underwrite or lunacies.
