The Importance of Drawing in Modernism

I cannot wait for this exhibition, but the idea of drawing as well at such an immediate medium. That rawness you can almost feel culverts' body placing pencil to paper or something when you see these works. So there's a particular drawing which I'm absolutely in love with. It's the drawing of a head of a child being cupped by its mother's hands. And it's extraordinary the way that she really emphasises the touch between the hand and the head. She's drawing both on her own experience as a mother, but also drawing on the women who visited her husband Carl's surgery.
