Do We Check Email All the Time?
CNN's John Sutter says he agrees with the idea that email is detrimental to knowledge work. He argues it makes people miserable and exhausts them, which in turn affects their productivity. Email also conflicts with our social wiring by making us feel very anxious about what we're not getting done at a time when other tasks are waiting for us. The best way to deal with all of this is to get your brain working on something more productive than checking emails every six minutes.
