This was the first draft ever where the top two picks were sons of major l s. The people best set up to get good at baseball are the children of baseball players. But i wonder if the phenomenon we're seeing isn't more and better children of big leaguers, but the gradual disappearance of everyone else. I don't think baseball has nepotism problem in the playing ranks, where players are getting chosen too often because they are children of big Leaguers. It's a sport that takes specialized knowledge and equipment, long hours and certain facilities. And maybe just as importantly, it's not a sport with mass appeal.
