The three things that need to happen for their people to have what it takes to do good work are clarity, feedback and trust. A lot of times people know abstractly what is the right thing to do, but they don't know how to do it right. The only way where you can teach that is by observing them doing it and giving them some feedback. And if you don't tell them they will keep doing it wrong.
