In an essay, Monica chin explored anecdotal evidence suggesting that by somewhere around two thousand and 17, some significant percentage of college students have a mental model altogether foreign to them. She writes that the directory structure connotes physical placement but this concept seems completely alien to her students. Garland says, they see it like one bucket, and everything's in the bucket. But i think she undersells the significance of the observation because she thinks of it as an analogy rather than metaphor.
